Your time is precious, even more so when you travel. That’s why The American Butler School is proud to offer you with the Exclusive Butler service/training, our exclusive lifestyle hotel experience, designed to fulfill the needs of the discerning business executive and leisure traveler.
The Butler is a key element in a team of professionals striving to showcase a level of PERSONALIZED SERVICE that exceeds not only the expectation of the Guest, but will add a point of difference from the service executed anywhere else within the hotel.
As a Butler, you will have the distinguished and honorable role of being in SERVICE to our top tier Guests. Daily you will be faced with variety, challenge and an opportunity to use many skills. In this role you will be the proverbial Jack-of-all- trades and MASTER OF ALL.
The Attributes of Butler
A Butler MUST be:
- Well presented at all times
The grooming standards established in the employee handbook for Benchmark Resorts & Hotels to be adhered to at all times. It is to be noted, an impeccably polished pair of shoes, corkscrew and pen in pocket is the identifying features of a Victorian Butler’s attire.
- Discrete
The privacy of our Guests is of the utmost importance. Consequently, the discretion of the Butler is paramount. Personal information or items of Guests should not be discussed with anyone including team members unless the information is needed to execute service delivery.
- Tactful
The relationship between the Guest and their Butler is the most important ingredient in creating the point of difference from the service executed anywhere else within the hotel. Consequently, it is important that the Butler shows consideration in dealing with others and avoids giving offense. The skillful handling of sensitive Guest situations is where the butler fine-tunes their emotional connection with the Guest and creates loyalty. These sensitive situations may include, but not limited to, drunkenness, domestic disputes or receiving a gratuity.
- Observant
An extraordinary Butler is observant, always paying close attention to details. They take notice and are always watchful and attentive. Mr. Max always drinks a diet coke when sitting at his desk conducting business calls.
An extraordinary Butler will ensure there is a glass of diet coke at the desk as soon as it is observed that business calls are about to take place.
- An effective producer under pressure
A talented Butler must be able to work effectively when accomplishing numerous tasks simultaneously, while maintaining composure. The ability to prioritize and manage time is vital in this capacity.
